NOW HIRING: Customer Success Manager

Company: Groove
Website: http://www.groovehq.com

Groove is looking for a senior customer success manager to help us accelerate our pursuit of building the best damn customer success team on the planet.

You may have heard of us from our Journey to $500K blog (in fact, we'd prefer if you have, or have at least read it before applying), or from seeing us in news outlets and blogs like TheNextWeb, KISSmetrics, Buffer, Copyblogger, Hacker News or elsewhere around the web. We offer a help desk solution to over 8,000+ companies worldwide, that wins on simplicity, personalization and efficiency.

We’re expanding on our customer success team and are looking for someone to help us take Groove’s success team to the next level.

What you’ll do:
  • Manage customers throughout the entire lifecycle including presales, onboarding and training, as well as providing technical support to existing customers.
  • Create and lead customer webinars, demos, and on-boarding education.
  • Create instructional videos and product tutorials.
  • Win as a team by supporting other departments in marketing or engineering projects.
  • Optimize customer success touchpoints.
  • Support product roadmap decisions through customer feedback tracking.
  • Lift key performance indicators through customer conversion, retention, and upsells.
  • Meet goals outlined monthly and communicate proactively about plans to achieve the goals.

We’d like to see:
  • College degree, preferably in business or marketing, or equivalent education and work experience.
  • 3+ years experience in a customer success position at a B2B SaaS company.
  • You love people! You can’t wait to jump on a screen-share with them to troubleshoot or train as questions arise.
  • Experience running engaging webinars.
  • Experience writing customer facing documentation.
  • At ease demonstrating product functionality.
  • Customer oriented, owns customer problems, troubleshoots, and is able to solve inquiries.
  • Engaging phone and video presence: poised, confident, and professional.
  • You flourish in a fast paced tech environment where change is constant.
  • You’ve used Groove or another helpdesk in the past

Perks and benefits:

We offer a fun startup environment, and exceptional learning opportunity with other entrepreneurs.
Competitive compensation structure.
An opportunity to get in on the ground floor of our rapidly growing company!
Promotion and growth opportunities.
An incredible team of smart and supportive people.

Experience working remotely is the only other requirement. You’ll be joining a completely remote team that knows it works best. Meetings are kept to a minimum and everyone is left to get things done. Familiarity with Slack is a plus, and advanced-level Giphy skills will take you far.

If you’ve helped a fast-moving team win before and are ready to do it again, we want you on board. Our work impacts thousands of businesses around the globe, and we have our sights (very publicly) set on massive growth goals. If you think you can help us get there and are ready to join the family, email us at wewantyou@groovehq.com.

NOW HIRING: Business Development Lead

Company: Modern Tribe
Website: https://tri.be/

Modern Tribe is looking for two seasoned business development leads to drive new growth for the agency. This is a hybrid role between senior sales lead and a solutions architect. In this role at Modern Tribe you will help the company identify leads, develop relationships and close deals in line with our company values.

The ideal candidate for this role is someone who has been writing proposals, selling large scale projects and maintaining key relationships for a successful digital agency for 3+ years and has been technically involved in online projects for 5+ years.

You’ve been running projects for years: you’ve done your own sales, have a proven track record writing proposals that close deals, know how to work with WordPress, and understand the nuances of the WordPress business world. You’ve sold projects in the $75 – $250k+ range, and aren’t afraid to go bigger.

Above all else, your daily attitude + output embody Modern Tribe’s company ethos of “live well and do good work”: you thrive on keeping the team happy and healthy. Matchmaking — not hitting sales numbers — is your jam. You hustle hard, enjoy the game and relish a genuine success. We pride ourselves on solving real problems for people rather than clutter the interwebs with more shit. If you jive with the mission of setting your team up for success, giving them the right flow and the right kind of projects, even if it means rejecting a potentially-lucrative gig…we’d love to hear from you.

Note that scoping + strategy experience are a must-have for this role; Modern Tribe is ONLY looking for technical sales candidates at this time.

Inclusion Statement

Modern Tribe is committed to a culture that embraces diversity and inclusion. We foster an environment of collaboration, open engagement, fairness and respect regardless of differences in age, race, disability, national origin, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation or veteran status. As a hybrid workspace ranging from distributed contractors to traditional employees, we value the unique perspectives and experiences of our global team.

We come from all walks of life. We are small business owners. We are tattoo aficionados and 80’s movie buffs and ex-pats. We are homeschool teachers. We are single parents. We are musicians, college drop-outs, and entrepreneurs. We are travelers, feminists, runners, volunteers, and makers. We are a Modern Tribe.

Everyday we strive to fulfill our motto: live well and do good work. We hope you will consider joining us.

Responsibilities

Each of Modern Tribe’s sales team members closes upwards of $1 million in new project work each year. The company provides a healthy pipeline to keep things rolling. Team members are also expected to be out generating leads themselves through speaking at events, blogging, local networking, etc. We build relationships.

The business development position at Modern Tribe is primarily focused on lead qualification and managing the sales funnel through contract close. Specific tasks this will involve include:

  • Managing the inbound inquiry funnel (triage emails, answer calls, etc)
  • Reviewing + qualifying leads that are a good fit for Modern Tribe
  • Helping define + scope projects of all sizes, ranging from $75k to over $1 million++
  • Clearly identifying customer needs and articulate how we can help solve them
  • Lead the proposal writing process
  • Working directly with service team directors / leads to get estimates
  • Pitching the final project / proposal to the end customer
  • Building relationships with prospective partners
  • Providing regular status updates on daily Sales scrum meetings
  • Working directly with Project Management and Strategy to handoff and oversee confirmed projects / upsell opportunities
  • Ensuring the internal CRM we use for tracking work stays updated + accurate
  • Verifying that that all workflows (proposal templates, estimate templates, etc) are documented and easily accessible
  • Maintaining strong, long-term relationships with customers once the project is underway, with the ability to expand business with current customers beyond the initial project
  • Writing outbound marketing pieces

Personal Competencies

  • Impeccable communication + organization skills
  • A deep-seated love for relationship building
  • A diverse background that touches on technology, design and/or strategy, not just sales
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented

Knowledge & Experience

  • A demonstrable understanding of current technologies and what solutions will/will not work for a given customer’s needs
  • Demonstrated success driving new sales/client acquisition in an agency environment
  • Ability to travel approximately 1x per month on average (this fluctuates a lot)

  • Experience closing $1 million + in annual sales
  • Proven experience in strategy, design and/or executing major marketing initiatives

NOW HIRING: Software Developer

Company: Overleaf
Website: https://www.overleaf.com
Headquarters: London, UK

Overleaf is a startup and social enterprise that builds modern collaborative authoring tools for scientists — like Google Docs for Science. We have over four million registered users from around the world. Our primary product is an online, real-time collaborative editor for papers, theses, technical reports and other documents written in the LaTeX markup language.

Who We Are

Overleaf was founded by two mathematicians who were inspired by their own experiences in academia to create a better solution for scientific collaboration and communication. Now we are a team of about forty with fifteen developers, based mainly in and around the UK and in the US. We were recognised as one of the UK's top 100 fastest growing businesses in 2018.

About a third of our development team joined us through our acquisition of ShareLaTeX, another major online LaTeX editor, in 2017, and we've now integrated the two teams.

Our Tech

Overleaf is based on open source software, and most of our product code is itself open source. You can find it on GitHub: https://github.com/sharelatex/sharelatex (note: most activity is in the repos linked from there).

We run a mainly Node.js back end using MongoDB, PostgreSQL and Redis. We use a microservices architecture, with about a dozen services. Most of our code is written in CoffeeScript, but we are in the process of decaffeinating to use ES6. On the front end, we mainly use Angular v1 and are incrementally migrating to React.

We're hosted mainly on Linode and managed with Chef but will be moving imminently to Google Kubernetes Engine. We use Docker to manage our development environments. We support continuous delivery and typically deploy at least a few times a day (less on Fridays).

How We Work

Overleaf is remote-first — all founders and staff work remotely. We also have an office by King's Cross station for those in the London area, and we get the whole team together in London several times a year for face-to-face time.

We encourage flexible working. Our core hours are 2pm–5pm UK time, during which our development teams have 10–15 minute daily standup calls. We have few standing meetings for developers, but we do many smaller video or voice calls for pairing or within teams.

We always collect user feedback to inform our work. We have UX professionals on our team, and we run many surveys and user interviews.

We organize our work with Kanban. We use GitHub pull requests for each feature with code review to share knowledge and best practices (and catch bugs). We test thoroughly with automated unit and acceptance tests, supported by continuous integration (CI). We're also fans of linting to minimise bike-shedding (and to catch bugs).

About This Role

We plan to add two developers to our team, one with a back end focus and one with a more full stack focus. Experience with some of Node.js, Kubernetes, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Angular and React are desirable. Ruby on Rails experience is also a plus, because we have one Rails service from before our integration with ShareLaTeX.

Key projects on our road map this year include:

University Single Sign On — make it easier for users at our 60+ institutional customers to log in to Overleaf
New releases of our on premise editions — anyone can install our open source Community Edition, and many labs and companies install our commercially supported Server Pro edition
Improve our B2C conversion metrics and monitoring — a more data-heavy project focused on web analytics

Here are some examples of projects (large and small) we've recently completed:

  • https://www.overleaf.com/blog/644-two-quick-updates-to-overleaf-v2-based-on-your-feedback
  • https://www.overleaf.com/blog/523-a-data-driven-approach-to-latex-autocomplete

In the longer term, we are planning projects around improved collaboration features for teams, improvements to our rich text mode, and more.

How We Hire

  • The stages in our hiring process are typically:
  • We will aim to update you on the status of your application within 14 days from when we receive it.
  • We'll follow up by email (or sometimes schedule a phone call) with any questions we have about your application, usually around logistics, your ambitions and your expectations about the role.
  • We'll schedule a more in-depth interview, which is typically two hours long. The first hour is discussion, and the second hour is technical. For the technical, you'll have the option of either completing a homework assignment, which requires about one hour of your time before the interview, or solving a problem in the interview, if you prefer. The problems are practical in nature (no fizz-buzz or reversing linked lists), and you can use Google, man pages, etc., and ask us questions.
  • We'll make an offer. We usually interview in batches, so there may be a short delay while we interview other candidates, but we will try to keep you informed throughout the process.

If you have a deadline, please let us know in your application, and we will try to be accommodating.

Requirements

We require that you:

  • have a minimum of 2–3 years of relevant experience (we aren't taking on more new graduates at the moment).
  • will work for us full time (or nearly full time).
  • will usually be available in our core hours, 2pm–5pm UK time.

Experience with the technologies we use is always a plus, but you don't need to know them all; your ability to learn is much more important to us.

Benefits

  • Remote and flexible working.
  • Salary £40k–£75k per year depending on experience.
  • You would join a small, dedicated and growing team.
  • We're substantially (around 80%) open source, so your work will often be on open source code.
  • We're backed by Bethnal Green Ventures (https://bethnalgreenventures.com/) and Digital Science (https://www.digital-science.com/), through which we're part of a wider community of startups in science, health and ed-tech.
  • Our London office is shared with several other Digital Science companies, so there's lots of interesting people to meet, and clubs and sports activities outside of work.
  • We get everyone together in London for team meetings several times a year for valuable face-to-face time.
  • You can pick your own equipment. MacBook Pro? Lenovo ThinkPad? Notebook and pen? However you like to work, we'll provide what you need.
  • We provide a training budget; many of our developers choose to attend relevant industry conferences or buy training materials.
  • We run a biweekly internal seminar series (show and tell) with short talks from staff about their work or personal projects, new technologies and techniques.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

NOW HIRING: Technical Learning Experience Designer

Company: Entangled Group / Pathstream
Website: https://www.pathstream.com/
Headquarters:  San Francisco, California, United States

At PathStream (https://www.pathstream.com/), we are on a mission to create radical impact on career and economic mobility, through high quality and accessible career-focused education. To do so, we are building an online platform which teaches job-critical tech skills, and completely changes the nature of the online learning experience.

Whereas most online learning consists of passive video lectures, Pathstream users learn and build career skills within actual software platforms that are authentically used on the job, ensuring they are ready to perform in a real work environment. Throughout the courses, users build a portfolio which demonstrates their skills and ultimately earn a certification from the relevant software platform company, both of which ensure that their efforts translate into actual career mobility.

We are building courses for our first two major clients, Facebook on Digital Marketing and Unity on VR/AR. We are additionally establishing partnerships with colleges across the country to ensure these courses and skills are accessible to traditional learners as well as working adults. Learn more about PathStream's partnership with Facebook and Unity in this TechCrunch article: https://techcrunch.com/2018/08/16/facebook-is-going-back-to-college/

We are seeking a Technical Learning Experience Designer who will co-lead the design and creation of Pathstream's online instructional content.

The primary responsibility of the role is to create engaging and informative curriculum which will be delivered online through the Pathstream platform.

Requirements

What you'll do:

- Design and author technical online course curriculum likely in one of the following areas: cybersecurity, salesforce, IT administration, data science, data analytics, business intelligence etc.
- Work closely and collaboratively with subject matter experts to specify key learning objectives for specific courses.
- Translate dense, complex subject material into clear, compelling, and well structured curricula.
- Develop engaging, interactive online learning modules, including supporting multi-media.
- Evaluate content in relation to learning objectives, internal conventions, and approved style guides.
- Design project based learning experiences in collaboration with our internal team and subject matter experts.
- Format, edit, and perform quality assurance checks on your own work and the work of others, ensuring consistency of voice and message, precision, clarity, and overall engaging and aesthetically pleasing output across all types of communications and deliverables (and get paid to learn in the process!)

Relevant Experience and Mindset:

- You are an excellent communicator, especially in writing, and have the ability to express complex topics clearly and easily. You have a strong command of the English language.
- You're a fast learner: you pick up on new topics quickly and you're excited and able to develop functional understanding of new software platforms and translate technical content into layman's terms with the support of subject matter experts.
- You're highly detail-oriented and have excellent organizational skills - whether it's content organization or organizing your own workflow.
- You have experience in the design, development, and writing of online learning content.
- You're collaborative by nature and are energized by cross-functional work.
- You're interested in working in a fast-growing, fast-paced environment with changing responsibilities.

Bonus Points:

- You have experience or familiarity with cybersecurity or data science

NOW HIRING: Director of Product Design

Company: Entangled Group / Pathstream
Website: https://www.pathstream.com/
Headquarters: San Francisco, California, United States

At Pathstream, our mission is to create the most accessible and effective career pathways to knowledge economy jobs, at scale.

The problem:

Software companies, colleges, students, and employers suffer from a growing skills gap because there is no intermediary to provide education that directly prepares students for digital-skill careers.

Our solution:

We partner with leading software companies to build college curriculum for emerging digital skill careers, which are delivered to students through our national network of community college and university partners through our online, active-learning environment. Students can access these courses just like any other course at their college, at no extra cost. However, unlike most college courses, our program and technology allows students to learn by creating real work projects in the same software used on the job.

Our product:

Our courses are offered on the Pathstream learning platform, which includes a killer labs feature that allows students to learn while working in industry leading software used on the job, and eliminates the frictions of learning new digital skills - students can jump into learning without wasting any time on downloading, installing, or configuring new tools or projects.

Progress in our first 9 months
  • Partnerships with Facebook, Unity, Tableau, Silicon Valley Bank, and Salesforce (and others to be announced soon)
  • Partnerships with 25+ community colleges that collectively reach over 1 million students
  • Viewed as a groundbreaking new model in higher ed - as featured in this TechCrunch article
In short, we are a lean team (less than 15 FTEs) that have product/market fit and now rapidly scaling. We are looking for a Director of Product Design to lead the development and elevation of our product as we grow.

About this role

You will be the sole design resource on the team. If we had to guess, your time will be spent ~25% on high-level design thinking / UX / strategy, ~50% on wireframing / prototyping, and ~25% creating pixel-perfect designs.

You will help us tackle the following problems:
  • How do we motivate students to complete material that is less fun than say watching Netflix but will help them achieve career goals?
  • How do we provide just-in-time incentives and feedback to make even the least tech-savvy students feel fully confident navigating the platform?
  • How do we balance gamification with the professionalism of a college course?
  • How do we ensure a seamless student experience regardless of how a school integrates our content into their online courses?
  • How do we foster fantastic student-instructor engagement without overburdening instructors

REQUIREMENTS

About you
  • ~5 (or more) years experience implementing products from inception to launch and iteration
  • Generalist capabilities across all areas of design and specialist expertise in 1 or 2 areas
  • Ability to share your vision and communicate at all levels. You can synthesize to two sentences for the CEO and get nerdy on pixel-level iterations with other designers.

BENEFITS

About our culture
  • We believe in our founding premise - every individual should have access to the digital skills needed to succeed in the modern economy.
  • We believe the best team members are kind, collaborative, and supportive.
  • We believe the best teams are diverse and inclusive.
  • We believe in learning and development and seek feedback to improve.
  • We gain energy in rapid-growth environments with evolving expectations and responsibilities.

What we offer
  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience (this is a full time, exempt, salaried position).
  • Comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, flex spending accounts, paid time off, commuter benefits, and 401(K).
  • We’re open to the role being remote or in-person in our San Francisco office.

How to apply

If you are interested in joining our Pathstream team, please submit the following application materials to our online job posting:
  • A note with 5 sentences or fewer on why you are interested plus your salary needs
  • A resume or list of previous work experiences
  • (Optional) A quick video walkthrough of a design you have done, ideally in the form of a case study (e.g., the problem, your thought process, the end result)
Pathstream is an equal opportunity employer. Our company values diversity and believes diverse teams make innovation possible. We encourage all qualified applicants from any race, color, religion, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or other characteristic to apply.
