Company: Ellipsis Marketing LTD
Website: https://getellipsis.com
Headquarters: Oxford, United Kingdom

Ellipsis Marketing is a small and fast-growing marketing agency for WordPress businesses. We sit at the intersection of digital marketing and the WordPress ecosystem, serving agencies who sell websites to the biggest companies in the world, and product businesses who sell addons to millions of WordPress users.

Between us, we have the skills “in house” to do marketing strategy and implementation in the most effective areas for WordPress businesses. We want to expand our CRO expertise and service offerings, which is where you come in!

As a 100% remote team, we carefully balance collaboration with an environment that lets everyone do their very best work. We’re based in the UK but regularly travel for work, WordCamps, and pleasure :)

As our new Conversions Manager, you'll work closely with our team and network of freelancers to lead our CRO projects, offer expert consultative insights, and deliver amazing results to clients. You’ll report to our Head of Content and Conversions and will be our first team member specifically focused on Conversions.

This role is an excellent opportunity to spread the word and benefits of CRO to an industry in need of your expertise. You'll need to champion CRO, educate potential clients, and develop our processes. We have the opportunity to help hundreds of product businesses and agencies in our target market, and we need you to help us do that.

This position breaks down as follows:

  • 25% hands-on CRO work
  • 25% internal projects

Your main responsibilities include:

  • Offer expert consultancy on CRO to our clients through our CRO and Marketing Audits, and our own marketing efforts.
  • Collect, report, and analyse data across all our projects to ensure we deliver the best service to clients. You’ll support the business by improving our methods for monitoring client data, then providing actionable insights to the rest of the team and clients.
  • We'll work with you to develop our CRO services, and you have the opportunity to develop these. We currently handle a handful of CRO, copy, and email projects. Part of your role will be to build this capacity; this may involve building your own team in the future.

  • Advanced use of spreadsheets for data analysis and capture
  • Experience with customer research/discovery
  • Experience creating, editing, and testing copy which converts
  • Experience leading projects, managing external freelancers, and handling moving parts
  • Experience dealing with and reporting to clients, ideally in an agency setting
  • Availability to work on European time (GMT/CET)
  • Fluent English speaker
  • WordPress user (advanced usage desirable but not essential), Google Analytics, GSuite

Requirements: soft skills
  • Great communication skills: Remote work relies on a team being able to fully trust each other, so frequent and clear written communication is a must
  • Proven organisational skills: You must be obsessive with deadlines, managing and updating tasks, and totally reliable
  • A “people person”: You’ll be dealing with external contractors and clients on a daily basis. We care about working well together :)
  • Self-driven work ethic: You need to be self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative and seeing things through to completion
  • Curiosity and the desire to learn: As our business grows, we’re constantly adapting and evolving with it. What will be the skills of tomorrow? Flexibility is essential

Bonus points if you have:
  • Experience with WordPress or knowledge of the WordPress ecosystem
  • Experience planning and implementing campaigns and wins for clients who need CRO but are new to it
  • Experience building basic email automation sequences which convert
  • Familiarity with project management and remote-work tools, e.g. Basecamp
  • Marketing agency experience, including client-facing
  • Knowledge of B Corp business principles

Benefits
  • This is a full-time, 100% remote role. Work from home, or the beach!
  • Competitive full-time salary with pension, benchmarked to UK rates and based on experience. We expect this to be ~£33-39k
  • 28 days of paid holiday
  • Monthly remote-working allowance
  • Regular team retreats (in fun places! ~2 per year)
  • Attendance to conferences in Europe with the team (1-2 per year)

NOW HIRING: Engineering Manager, SRE

Company: Netlify
Website: https://www.netlify.com
Headquarters: San Francisco, California, United States

At Netlify, we're building a platform to empower web developers to build better, more elaborate web projects than ever before. We're aiming to change the landscape of modern web development. Netlify currently serves more than 700,000 developers worldwide.

We’re a venture-backed company, and so far we've raised about $45 million from Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, Bloomberg, and prominent founders and professionals in our space.
Netlify is a diverse group of incredible talent from all over the world. We’re ~40% woman or non-binary, and are composed of about half as many nationalities as we are team members.

About the role:

The role breaks down into three big parts:
  • Expansion: We are rapidly hiring and we need to expand the team. You will help us continue to build a diverse and inclusive team. This involves identifying skills the team needs, shepherding candidates through the hiring process, and building a more reliable, unbiased, and fair hiring process.
  • Delivery: Balancing technical debt and new features is always nuanced. You will partner with the product management team to manage this balance in accordance with the needs of the business. You will help define a project management process to help delivery and predictability with the goal of continuously shipping code to production.
  • Cultivation: You'll be instrumental in growing the careers of the individual engineers on your team. This means being their advocate and helping guide them in the direction they want. It also means being a culture driver on the team, fostering a positive, trusting, and supportive team.
  • We have a small headquarters in San Francisco but we are a largely distributed engineering team. You will need to enable the team to work productively across different timezones. Fostering good habits of documentation, empathy, integrity to delivery on committed work are some of the key elements for success on our team. Experience working and managing remote teams is a big plus.

Ideal Candidate:
  • Experienced manager of a technical backend team, especially around infrastructure development
  • Understanding of how engineering teams collaborate and track a project delivery
  • Familiarity, or willingness to learn, about the underlying system architecture of a PaaS (e.g. APIs, databases, distributed systems)
  • Commitment to designing a hiring process that is fair, efficient, and repeatable
  • Communicate priorities and expectations to both team and leadership
  • Passion for mentorship and advocacy for your team members in their career development
  • Ability to work across multiple timezones with remote colleagues
  • A desire to succeed personally through the health and success of the team

About the team:

The SRE team works as a support for the whole organization, from the different engineering groups to the sales and stability of the product. While we do oversee the incident management framework, we work to minimize the number of incidents via automation and tooling for the larger engineering team. The SRE team will focus on two big areas: stability and enablement.

Stability because the SRE team is the frontline defense around issues and outages (e.g. cloud crashes, DDoS). The team will build the tooling needed to respond to these incidents and be prepared for the unexpected. This includes a 24/7 on-call rotation and working with other teams to prepare for incidents (e.g. more observability, alerting framework)

Enablement because the team provides some of the core services that the rest of engineering relies on (e.g. kafka, kubernetes). They also empower developers to ship their code to production in a safe and repeatable way. This means working on different developer tools to provide more observability, better testing capabilities, and a smoother deployment process. Much of this is done by writing and using tools to further automation of rote or dangerous tasks.

Right now the team is split between US and EU timezones to provide follow the sun coverage. Often coordination will have to take into account lag, timezones, and autonomy. The goal being to have SRE resources available whenever the company needs them.
