The role

With significant early traction, we're working towards building our in-house Product & Engineering team to be the heartbeat that drives the company forward - Our aim is to be Europe's fastest-growing startup in 2020.

We are looking for a full-time, highly-skilled Senior Backend Engineer, who is comfortable with distributed and high-performance systems.

You will be responsible for developing and designing highly scalable system architecture, ensuring responsiveness of applications, working closely with the development team, running tests and debugging, among other duties.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is comfortable in a fast-paced, start-up environment, as well as collaborating with a remote development team.


Responsibilities

  • Architect, analyze, design, develop, troubleshoot, and debug software programs for end-user applications
  • Ensuring applications can handle high volumes of load
  • Ensuring responsiveness of applications
  • Delivering software build with reliability and tests from the get-go
  • Meeting both technical and consumer needs
  • Working with and potentially managing a small agile development team
  • Delivering projects and KPIs on-time with high quality
  • Design, development and implementation of projects and features
  • Ensuring compliance with development methodology and technical process


Qualifications

  • Specialized backend developer with exposure to all layers of application and development
  • 2+ Years of experience in Back End technology
  • 1+ Years of experience with Ruby, or Rust (Ideally both)
  • Experience with a distributed system platform: Kafka preferred, other pubsub systems accepted.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL and Redis
  • Experience with test frameworks for both asynchronous jobs as well as well as APIs and websocket channels.
  • Experience using websockets to deliver a real-time experience.
  • Deployed customer-facing software into a product environment
  • Solid experience working in an agile development environment
  • Passion for clean and appropriately tested code
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking


Nice to haves

  • Experience with Docker
  • Experience with DynamoDB, or other NoSQL database engines
  • Experience with WebRTC, Live Streaming or other related video technologies
  • Self-starter, able to deliver project on time meeting high quality standards
  • Strong background in technology and application design
  • Strong understanding of different software development practices, infrastructure, and how each can help shop more value to customers
  • Good communication skills

NOW HIRING: Digital Marketing SaaS Specialist

Locate2u is a Saas application based in Sydney, Australia. We currently have customers in Australia, NZ and USA however plan to grow across the world this year.

We are looking to add our first marketing person to the team, you'll be working directly with the founder & CEO. Your primary role will be to assist with building a marketing content/emails/automation to assist with conversion. Essentially building the funnel of our marketing campaigns.


Key responsibilities:

  • manage, optimize, and keep up-to-date email automation campaigns for prospects & customers
  • identify opportunities, prioritize projects, design experiments, develop email marketing campaign strategy, oversee execution and analyze results
  • support wider marketing and product development teams with email campaign execution
  • assist with creating and executing content for in-app communication to customers
  • report to CEO on project statuses and results


What do we expect?

  • English proficiency (near-native level desired)
  • 1+ year of hands-on email marketing experience
  • excellent project management skills and experience working cross-functionally (AKA you are a master multi-tasker)
  • strong communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • being detail-oriented and process-driven with experience in making data-driven decisions
  • comfortable working knowledge of the SaaS industry landscape
  • ability and desire to work in a fast-paced environment
  • previous experience managing email marketing campaigns
  • being available to work in the Australia time zone for some of your day

Initially the role will be a contract position working 10-20 hours per week. However for the right person this could move into a full time role quickly.
