NOW HIRING: Senior Node.js Developer

Company: NearForm
Website: https://www.nearform.com
Headquarters: Tramore, Ireland

What will your day look like?

With your first (of many) cups of coffee in hand, you skip the traffic-packed drive and stroll down the hall to your home office. Turn on your monitor and join the daily standup. Call done, hit play on your favourite playlist, tap the volume key a few times and get in the zone. First on your list for today is to review some GitHub pull requests that need your attention.

The rest of the morning goes by working on a feature for the weekly client demo. Lunchtime arrives and you head to your yoga class. Feeling stretched and relaxed, you make yourself something to eat, grab (another) cup of coffee and get back to work. Some remote problem solving with the team and then it’s back to code. Hunger calls and you know it’s time to shut the laptop. After catching up on everyone’s day, you go pack for your trip to NodeConf the next day.

What will you be doing?

At NearForm, we work with international clients who are industry leaders in their respective fields. Our role is to help them build solutions and platforms; help them to launch new product ventures and fundamentally change how they operate.

Join a highly-skilled multidisciplinary team; typically consisting of designers, front-end and back-end experts, DevOps engineers, and also members of the client team. This mix follows a modern agile development methodology where we run 2-week sprints with a defined backlog, daily standups, weekly demos, sprint planning and sprint retros; all with as little ceremony as necessary.

What do we ask of you?
  • Deep experience of developing applications at an enterprise level
  • Evidence of real-world delivery of solutions and platforms
  • Experience with a wide variety of modern cloud and open source technologies and tools
  • An ability to perform in a highly functioning team in a dynamic environment
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and multitasking skills
  • Fluent English & superb communication skills (written and oral)
  • Availability for short-term travel on a semi-regular basis

Experience with:
  • Deep working knowledge of Node.js
  • Cloud architecture and experience with AWS or Azure services
  • Developing modern cloud-native applications; web & mobile architectures in particular
  • SQL and data architecture, experience with Postgres or similar
  • REST API and GraphQL web services development
  • Complex systems and API Integrations

What will you get?
  • Work/Life balance: we have a genuine dedication to work/life balance.
  • Family friendly: we understand how important family is, so our flexible environment allows you to work around what matters - school run, no problem!
  • The Wellness Hub: we offer resources and support and have a genuine commitment to fostering/improving nearFormer’s wellbeing.

NOW HIRING: React Developer

Company: Clinic Sense
Website: https://clinicsense.com
Headquarters: Toronto, Canada

About the position

This is a full-time, salaried position as a React Developer with the opportunity to work on backend projects (Django, Python, AWS, MySQL, etc).

This is, of course, a remote position. While we are officially based in Toronto, Canada we all work remotely (Spain, Hungary, Italy, Benin, and Canada).

Requirements
  • 1+ years of React/Redux experience
  • 2+ years of CSS experience
  • Some Python/Django experience

What we’re working on now

This is a great time to join our dev team because we’ve just started to implement a redesign using an atomic design system (Sketch/Zeplin/Storybook). We are refactoring our React code and re-building components from the ground up. This means that onboarding will be pretty straightforward and you should be able to jump right in without first having to get acquainted with thousands of lines of code.

Most of the time you will have plenty of autonomy (with the rest of the team available for support). You will also have the opportunity to bring new ideas to the table (whether that’s new features or ideas on internal processes).

Our philosophy on work & productivity

Our goal for ourselves and for you is to not be overworked or stressed. While we constantly strive to improve our product and add value for our customers, we are not an agency nor do we serve corporate clients, so we have greater flexibility over our release cycle.

We evaluate our performance based on output, not input - meaning that we care more about quality work and being productive than we do about a strict 9-5 work day. Ultimately, this gives us the freedom to choose the hours we work and work when we feel the most productive (while still maintaining 35-40hrs per week).
We have a weekly team call to socialize and check-in on the week’s tasks and we’re sure to get a few overlap hours each day so we can support each other. We use Google Meet, JIRA, and Slack to stay connected.

Compensation

Salary: $70,000 CAD
Vacation: Public Holidays + 3 weeks vacation

Start date: September 2019

Applying

Please include a resume to give us an overview of your background. Please also include a message that helps us get to know more about you. Specifically, we'd love to hear about React projects you’ve worked on, what the team size was, what your role was, and if the project was part of a full-time job, freelance, a personal project, contribution to open source, or anything else. You can address your application to Daniel daniel@clinicsense.com.
