Position Summary:

We’re looking for an experienced full-stack frontend engineer who wants to help shape the way we interact with our customers. Your job will be to help us implement the web interface of our cloud search platform, where millions of medical imaging files can be searched through, selected, and exposed securely to the research community. This position is an opportunity to make a huge impact on the implementation of our customer facing platform and make a difference in the way medical AI development is done. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the cross functional team including medical experts and our stellar UI/UX team.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • People skills - you must be a team player and get to know the wider Segmed team
  • 100% responsibility for the frontend code in our user-facing Segmed Portal
  • Implement clean, stable and tested frontend code aligned with our UI/UX strategy and backend features to meet your frontend needs and/or help with implementing them
  • Other ad hoc responsibilities to support the company’s objectives, as required in this fast-paced startup
  • Travel at Segmed’s expense for fun company-wide team offsites once the pandemic is over!


Required Qualifications:

  • 2yrs+ experience with top HTML/CSS framework (Twitter Bootstrap, Tailwind, Semantic CSS)
  • 2yrs+ experience in plain Javascript and one of top JS frameworks (React, Vue.js)
  • 1yrs+ experience in REST APIs and debugging HTTP applications
  • Proficiency in at least one backend technology (Python/Ruby; Golang preferred)
  • Experience in continuous frontend testing to ensure no glitches are present in web platform
  • Superior attention to detail and excellent communicator, both interpersonal and written
  • Well organized and able to juggle many projects at once
  • Enjoy working remotely

Sr. Web Developer

With Bear Group, you will tackle technical problems, code and debug, and occasionally participate in client meetings. The type of work depends on the client, but often includes:

  • Developing custom modules and extensions for Magento Commerce.

  • Ensuring a quality product is delivered to clients.

General Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus a minimum of 5+ years of related work experience.
  • Strong expertise in building eCommerce websites using frameworks including Magento.
  • Preference for client-service environments -- web development firms, technical support teams, interactive agencies, graphic design firms.
  • Independence, enthusiasm, superb written communication, and organization skills.


Technical Qualifications

  • 5+ years in web development and strong PHP experience; experience with the Zend framework.
  • Magento 2 certified professional developer or professional developer plus.
  • Basic LAMP server administration experience, MySQL knowledge, and Git administration.
  • Understanding of Object Oriented Programming (OOP) and Model-View-Controller (MVC) frameworks.

We are a fully distributed team that primarily builds in PHP on the Magento and Drupal platforms for eCommerce and content management sites. Since we are fully remote, you can work from anywhere! We do require at least 5 hours of working time overlap with the Pacific time zone workday. As a high client-focused organization, you will occasionally need to meet according to their schedule.   • Experience in our stack is a plus. Our front-end includes Swift/Objective-C, Android Java, React, and node.js. Our back-end includes Postgres/PostGIS, AWS, Django/Python, and Docker. We have extensive map building infrastructure based on OpenStreetMap and other open data and tools.
