NOW HIRING: Senior Rails Developer

Company: Farmstead
Website: https://www.farmsteadapp.com/
Headquarters: San Francisco, California USA

Our mission at Farmstead is to make high-quality food accessible to everyone. We’re a remote first, asynchronous team, with developers already in Germany, Brazil, Wyoming and San Francisco.

Our highest value as a company is taking defensible risks without fear of repercussions, and through our values and our humanist culture, we’ve created an environment that allows each team member to make decisions, take risks, and take ownership.

We’re a VC-backed YC-backed company that is growing explosively. Every person we add to the team right now has a material impact on the direction of the company, and we hand over huge chunks of responsibility to smart people who get things done.

You

You’re a highly effective productivity machine, you communicate early and often with your team to get full context, and then switch to solo mode to dig in and get features shipped.  When you hit problems you reach out and involve your team, no one has to check on you to see how you’re doing because you’re ensuring your team is aware of your progress.

You’re used to the commercial realities of software development in a startup environment, you know that sometimes you need to leave a fire burning at a soft smolder.  You’re able to develop clean, elegant solutions when needed, and fix a critical issue in legacy code without rewriting the whole codebase (and without losing your mind ignoring the mess).

Requirements

  • Solid Rails knowledge
  • Strong SQL, bonus points for PostgreSQL
  • Wide general web knowledge (HTML, CSS, JS, etc)
  • JS Framework experience, bonus points if React
  • Honest and passionate
  • Responsible team player
  • Experienced with working remotely
  • Bonus points for asynchronous experience
  • Bonus points for Heroku experience

If you tick all the boxes then please apply. In your application please include an example of your code that you’re proud of (can be a link to it, eg. a gist) AND an explanation of why you’re proud of it.
