The role would be part of a growing Technology Function that includes a Business Intelligence and Software Development Division consisting of a lead architect, four engineers, and a product manager.

As our first full-time QA Analyst, your primary areas of responsibility will be to develop and document testing frameworks for how this role will function broadly. You will also be responsible for generating test cases designed around user stories; building the data sets required for testing project deliverables; executing the testing plans; identifying bugs and reporting recreate-steps to engineering while contributing to the development of user documentation.

Additional areas of responsibility include QA testing of various API integrations that automate data flows and reporting systems built by our BI engineers in support of day to day business operations and decision making support systems for the various Divisions within Nathan James.

You will use best judgement to manage the priority of defects in the backlog and will assist the engineers with the execution of automated test cases enabling rapid development and supporting our automated build and deployment pipeline that’s hosted in Amazon’s AWS environments.


ABOUT YOU:

We are looking for an intellectually curious, well rounded, and experienced QA analyst with strong analytical skills. You love complex challenges, you’re driven by problem-solving and delivering solutions with the utmost quality and you abhor defects.

You have worked in agile development and can easily prioritize your work according to effort and impact. You can work autonomously, with focus, and are extremely clear in communicating issues back to stakeholders so the best possible business decisions can be made. You don’t require constant hand-holding, but you’re not afraid to speak up when requirements aren’t clear or they require additional context and details.

You are passionate about technology and love testing, you are driven, and enjoy working in small team environments. You thrive on taking ownership of your areas of responsibility. You are energetic, and intentional about fostering a positive work environment.

You must have 3+ years of QA experience testing enterprise applications at scale. You have used MySQL and REST APIs for troubleshooting and validations. You have a solid understanding of various testing techniques and have used tools like Postman. You understand the product and accounting flows of a company as it relates to inventory management, sales, purchasing, forecasting, accounting and reporting.

This is a remote role since we are a remote/fully distributed company! You’re free to work where you work best, anywhere in the world: home office, coworking space, or coffee shops. You should be comfortable working remotely, that hinges on effective writing, self-discipline, and comfort with open communication.
